Title: Nirvana - Incesticide
Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 1992, Grunge, Aberdeen, Washington 10/26
Matrix #: N/A
Condition: VG+ (LM) | Members: Nirvana (N/A)
Cultural Facts:
- Kurt Cobain Made the Cover Art: Cobain created the strange skeletal figure and poppy-filled artwork himself, giving the compilation a much more personal visual identity than a typical collection of leftovers and B-sides.
- “Sliver” Caught Nirvana Between Drummers: The song was recorded after Chad Channing had left the band but before Dave Grohl joined. Mudhoney drummer Dan Peters stepped in for the session, making “Sliver” a rare snapshot of Nirvana during its constantly changing pre-Nevermind lineup.
- A Secret History of Pre-Fame Nirvana: Incesticide gathers BBC sessions, obscure singles, B-sides and early recordings stretching back before the band became famous. Tracks like “Dive,” “Aneurysm” and the Vaselines covers preserve the punkier, stranger side of Nirvana that could easily have been buried by the enormous success of Nevermind.
