Cultural Facts:

1. Personal Struggle: Cannonball carried a teacher’s discipline into jazz, but his 1975 stroke cut short a career still pushing hard against the idea that serious music had to feel cold.
2. Scene Ecology: Inside Straight catches the quintet in the 70s soul-jazz lane, where club energy, Black radio, and hard-bop intelligence still talked to each other.
3. Media Narrative: Adderley made accessibility feel like strength, not compromise, building jazz that could speak to musicians and regular people in the same room.
