Title: The Band – Music From Big Pink
Year/Genre: 1968, Roots Rock
Matrix #: SKAO-2955
Condition: VG (plays well; moderate wear consistent with grade)
Cultural Facts:
The Band grew out of Ronnie Hawkins’ backing group and Dylan’s mid-’60s touring band, mixing mostly Canadian members with Arkansas-born Levon Helm.
Much of the material was developed while they lived communally in a house near Woodstock nicknamed “Big Pink,” during Dylan’s post-crash retreat.
Issued in a year of U.S. political unrest, the record leaned into rural imagery and older American song traditions instead of the era’s psychedelia.
