Stone Mountain Boys – Stone Mountain Boys

Year/Genre: 1972 Bluegrass
Matrix #: BT 7204
Condition: VG+  very clean.
Description: Based out of the southeastern U.S., likely Georgia or the Carolinas, the Stone Mountain Boys exemplify the second-wave bluegrass movement that preserved traditional forms while expanding regional reach. Their self-titled album on Big T Records is a lesser-known but finely executed entry in the genre, featuring tight harmonies, breakneck banjo runs, and earnest Appalachian storytelling. Released during a resurgence of interest in roots music following the folk revival, this LP reflects the genre’s resilience amid the rising popularity of rock. For collectors of private press or regional bluegrass, this is a hidden gem worth spinning.
