Cultural Facts:

1. A Burrito Shop Standoff: After a 1988 show at Humboldt State, the band told Lookout! Records owners Larry Livermore and David Hayes over burritos that they wanted a full album, not another EP. The label tried to talk them out of it, and Lint later said, "You can tell Operation Ivy, but you can't tell 'em much."
2. The Gilman Sessions Got Scrapped: A first attempt to record live at 924 Gilman Street dragged on for weeks and was abandoned. In January 1989 they started over with Kevin Army at Sound and Vision in San Francisco and cut the basic tracks for the entire album in one day.
3. The Release Party Was Their Last Show: Weeks before the May 1989 record release show at Gilman, with Green Day also on the bill, Jesse Michaels and the band agreed to call it quits. The party became their last public performance, followed by one private backyard show the next day.
