Cultural Facts:

1. Band Drama Spitfire came from the post-Airplane era, when the band’s old counterculture identity was being rebuilt into a larger, more radio-ready Jefferson Starship machine.
2. Personal Struggle Grace Slick later dealt openly with alcoholism, including serious late-70s touring problems that eventually pushed her away from the band for a period.
3. Scene Ecology The album sits where San Francisco psychedelic royalty crossed into 70s arena culture, carrying remnants of the Airplane scene into a slicker FM-radio marketplace.
