1. Scene Ecology: Fu Manchu actually traces back to San Clemente, where members first played hardcore punk as Virulence before evolving into the fuzz-heavy Fu Manchu. Their obsession with skateboarding, surfing, old vans, muscle cars, and Southern California asphalt became part of the band's identity rather than just album-cover decoration.

2. Live Lore: Roadburn began as a gathering point for heavy psychedelic, stoner, doom, and underground rock long before that music had today's international festival circuit.
