Big Black – Songs About Fucking
Title: Big Black - Songs About Fucking
Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 1987, Noise Rock, Industrial Rock and Post-Hardcore, Chicago, Illinois 8/26
Matrix #: T&G LP #24
Condition: EX (LM) | Members: Steve A (62' - 24'), Santiago D (57' - ), Dave R (60' - 19')
Cultural Facts:
- Band Lore: Songs About Fucking was Big Black’s final studio album, and the band deliberately announced its breakup rather than drag on after guitarist Santiago Durango decided to attend law school.
- Production Style: Steve Albini’s metallic guitar attack, Dave Riley’s distorted bass, and a Roland drum machine created an abrasive mechanical sound that became enormously influential on noise rock and industrial-influenced punk.
- Recording Story: The final album was split between sessions in London and Albini’s home studio, capturing the band at its most stripped-down and confrontational just before its farewell tour.
