1. A Bootleg Made It a Triple: Wings Over America was planned as a two-record set until a bootleg called Wings from the Wings started selling. It was a triple album on red, white and blue vinyl holding the entire June 23, 1976 show at the Los Angeles Forum. McCartney answered by making the official album three records too, and most of what you hear here comes from that same Forum night.
2. The Bathtub Story Wasn't True: The American leg of the tour started nearly a month late because guitarist Jimmy McCulloch broke his finger in a Paris hotel. Wings told the press he slipped in the bathtub. The real story, told later, is that he broke it drunkenly smashing a hotel television.
3. A No. 1 Hit at Sixteen: Years before Wings, McCulloch was the teenage guitarist in Thunderclap Newman, a band Pete Townshend of the Who put together and produced. Their "Something in the Air" went to No. 1 in the UK in 1969 when McCulloch was 16, with Townshend secretly on bass under the alias "Bijou Drains." On this album McCulloch sings his own song, "Medicine Jar."
