1. The Cockfighter Ballad: La Muerte de un Gallero is a Tomas Mendez corrido about a cockfighter's death, the kind of rural story Vicente made into stadium ranchera. He recorded it for Caytronics while he was already one of Mexico's biggest box-office draws.
2. He Started in the Streets of Guadalajara: Vicente Fernandez left school early and sang on the streets and in restaurants around Guadalajara before anyone put him on a major label. That street apprenticeship stayed in his phrasing even after the arenas got huge.
3. The Charro Who Refused to Soften: Long after pop production got glossy, Fernandez kept the charro suit, the live mariachi, and the long held notes. Fans treated his concerts like sporting events, and he stayed that way until he retired in 2016.
