Condition: New (LM) | Members: Various Artists (N/A) | Producer: Lee "Scratch" Perry
Cultural Facts:

1. A Black Ark Time Capsule: The compilation gathers recordings largely made during Lee "Scratch" Perry's legendary Black Ark period, when Perry treated the studio itself like an instrument, using tape manipulation, echo, reverb and homemade production tricks to create sounds nobody else was making.
2. The Barrett Brothers Are Inside: Several tracks feature bassist Aston "Family Man" Barrett and drummer Carlton Barrett, the rhythm-section brothers who would become the backbone of Bob Marley & The Wailers and one of reggae's most influential combinations.
3. More Than Just The Upsetters: Despite the title, the record pulls together Perry collaborators including Johnny Lover, Val Bennett, Devon Irons, Bunny & Ricky and others, making it less a conventional band album and more a snapshot of the strange, interconnected musical world surrounding Perry's studio.
