Matrix #: MOONGLOW1001
Condition: VG+++ (LM) | Members: The Righteous Brothers (N/A) | Producer: Bill Medley
Cultural Facts:

1. Their Name Came From the Crowd: Before they were stars, Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield performed around Orange County as part of the Paramours. Black Marines at one of their club shows reportedly reacted to the duo by shouting, “That was righteous, brothers,” giving them the name they would keep for the rest of their career.
2. Their First Album Was Self-Produced: Right Now! was the duo's debut LP, and Bill Medley handled the production himself while Ray Maxwell supervised the sessions. That meant the deep-voiced singer was already shaping the duo's sound before Phil Spector ever entered the picture.
3. “Little Latin Lupe Lu” Opened the Door: Medley wrote the song that became their first regional hit, and it later turned into a garage-rock standard covered by acts including Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels. The success of that single helped turn two Orange County club singers into a national act.
