1. Love Story: Lux Interior and Poison Ivy first met in Sacramento in 1972, reportedly after Lux picked Ivy up while she was hitchhiking. They became a couple almost immediately and stayed together for more than 30 years, building The Cramps as a shared obsession with forgotten records, horror movies, thrift-store culture and outsider America.

2. Record-Collector Lore: “Goo Goo Muck” was not written by The Cramps. Lux and Ivy dug up the bizarre song from an obscure 1962 single by Ronnie Cook and the Gaylads, part of their habit of rescuing nearly forgotten rockabilly and garage records from bargain bins. More than 40 years later, The Cramps' version exploded with a new generation after appearing in Wednesday.

3. Kid Congo: Guitarist Kid Congo Powers was originally a Cramps fan hanging around the early punk scene before becoming a musician himself. He helped start The Gun Club with Jeffrey Lee Pierce, then left that rising band when The Cramps invited him to join. He ended up playing on Psychedelic Jungle, linking two of America's strangest early punk and roots-rock bands through one guitarist.
