Rose Maddox – Please Help Me, I'm Falling

Description: Raised in Alabama and later based in California’s Central Valley, Rose Maddox was a pioneering force in West Coast country and hillbilly boogie. Her rendition of “Please Help Me, I’m Falling,” originally made famous by Hank Locklin, showcases her powerful voice and the Bakersfield-style edge that set her apart from Nashville contemporaries. By the early ’60s, Maddox was one of the few women fronting her own band, breaking gender norms in a male-dominated genre. This single captures a moment where traditional country met honky-tonk rebellion, making it essential for any vintage country collection.
