Cultural Facts:

1. Two Songwriters Camped on His Doorstep: Fresh from Memphis, Johnny and Dorsey Burnette used a "Map to the Stars" to find the Nelson family home, then waited on the steps until Ricky would hear their songs. He recorded "Believe What You Say" and "It's Late," and both are on side one of this record.
2. "Lonesome Town" Was Written for the Everly Brothers: Baker Knight first hoped to sell his ballad to the Everlys, but Nelson cut it instead with the Jordanaires and guitarist James Burton, and it became a Top Ten hit. Knight almost didn't show him "Never Be Anyone Else But You" because he thought it was too simple. It became one of Nelson's best-known songs.
3. His Guitarist Moved In With the Family: James Burton was 18 when Ozzie Nelson phoned him in Shreveport, Louisiana, and asked him to be Ricky's lead guitar player. Burton lived with the Nelsons in their Hollywood home for his first year or two in the band.
