Title: Nena – Nena
Year/Genre/City: 1983, New Wave
Matrix #: CBS 25 264
Condition: EX

Cultural Facts:

  1. Political Science: A West Berlin band in a Cold War “island” city—youth culture shaped by borders, propaganda, and constant superpower optics.

  2. Scene Ecology: NDW broke through via small clubs + German-language TV/radio—fast national fame without needing UK/US gatekeepers first.

  3. Media Narrative: International demand led to English-language versions and export framing, creating a parallel “global Nena” distinct from the German context.
