Miles Davis – Miles Davis In Europe

Title: Miles Davis – Miles Davis In Europe

Year/Genre: 1964, Jazz

Matrix #: CL 2183 Condition: Mint

Description:
Released in 1964, Miles Davis In Europe captured a live performance at the Antibes Jazz Festival in France during the summer of 1963. The recording documents the “second great quintet” in its formative stage, with George Coleman on tenor saxophone before Wayne Shorter joined the lineup. This transitional group—featuring Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams—would soon redefine modern jazz through its adventurous approach to rhythm and harmony. The album reflects both Davis’s growing European following and the early 1960s moment when American jazz musicians were gaining renewed prestige abroad amid cultural exchange in the Cold War era.
