Cultural Facts:

  1. Carnegie Hall Power Trio: Live In Concert was recorded at New York's Carnegie Hall in May 1971 with just Joe Walsh, Dale Peters and Jim Fox. The stripped-down trio had to create an enormous amount of sound without a second guitarist or dedicated keyboard player.
  2. Joe Walsh's Goodbye: This became the final James Gang album released with Joe Walsh before he left the group later in 1971. He soon launched a solo career, formed Barnstorm and eventually joined the Eagles, turning this record into a live document of his last months with the band that made him famous.
  3. Eighteen-Minute Yardbirds Jam: The album closes with a massive version of the Yardbirds' “Lost Woman” stretching close to 18 minutes. Instead of simply reproducing their studio material, the trio used the song as a vehicle for the kind of extended improvisation and heavy blues jamming that built their reputation onstage.
