Title: Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction: Alternate Album
Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 1987, Hard Rock, Sleaze Rock Heavy Metal, Los Angeles, California 9/26
Condition: New (BC) | Members: Guns N' Roses (N/A) | Producer: Mike Clink
Cultural Facts:

1. Original Cover Chaos: The first Appetite for Destruction cover used Robert Williams' disturbing painting “Appetite for Destruction,” showing a robotic rapist being attacked by a red monster. Retailers objected, so Geffen replaced it with the now-famous cross-and-skulls design based on a tattoo-style image by Billy White Jr.
2. Street Life: Before fame, the classic lineup lived in extremely rough conditions around Hollywood, sharing cramped apartments, rehearsal spaces and whatever money they could scrape together. Their dangerous image was not invented later by a marketing department, because the band genuinely came out of a chaotic street-level existence.
3. Two Old Friendships: Guns N' Roses was built from two deep pre-band friendships. Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin knew each other from Lafayette, Indiana, while Slash and Steven Adler had been childhood friends in Los Angeles. Those separate relationships eventually collided into one of rock's most volatile classic lineups.
