1. Named for a Roadie Joke: English AOR band Charlie took the name from a running joke with their road crew, not from a single frontman. By Fight Dirty they were polishing the hard-edged radio rock that got them American airplay.
2. Trident Sessions: Terry Thomas and Julian Colbeck produced this for Trident Records, cutting it in the London studio system that also birthed a lot of late-70s polished rock. The long openers Killer Cut and Fight Dirty were built for album-rock radio.
3. Almost Broke in America: Charlie scored US rock-radio attention without becoming a household name, which is why clean original Arista copies still turn up in shop bins more often than sealed reissues. Fight Dirty sits right in that almost-famous AOR pocket.
