1. Orange County Roots: Castaic are a Santa Ana punk band built around Noel Paris, Frank Velaquez, Ryan Nichols and Randy Stewart, placing their dark post-punk sound inside Orange County rather than the more obvious Los Angeles goth orbit.
2. Six Years to the LP: The band had been releasing music since at least their self-titled 2020 EP, but Poppies And Reincarnations did not arrive until January 2026. Singles including “Handheld Heaven,” “Pressed Pills” and “Deco Flowers” appeared along the way as the album gradually took shape.
3. Tiny Vinyl Run: The vinyl edition was pressed in a run of only 100 copies on marbled cherry vinyl. Castaic also made one-of-a-kind test-press editions with hand-screened covers, collaged backs and lyric zines, giving the record a genuinely DIY physical-art component.
