1. Karen Was the Drummer: Before becoming famous for her voice, Karen Carpenter considered herself a drummer first. She played drums on many early Carpenters recordings and live performances, and reportedly disliked being pushed out from behind the kit simply because audiences and television producers wanted the singer standing at center stage.
2. A Bank Commercial Became a Classic: "We've Only Just Begun" began as music for a Crocker Bank television commercial showing a young couple starting married life.
