1. Working Life: Before this album, the members were often trying to write after ordinary workdays, meeting up already exhausted. For The Things We Think We’re Missing, they isolated themselves in a cabin for roughly two weeks so the band could finally live inside the songs instead of squeezing them around jobs and everyday responsibilities.

2. Pennsylvania Roots: Balance and Composure came out of the same eastern Pennsylvania network that produced bands like Title Fight, Tigers Jaw and later a whole generation of emotionally heavy punk and alternative music. These were bands sharing small rooms, friends and producers long before that sound became internationally fashionable.

3. Second Life: The band eventually announced a farewell and played what were supposed to be final shows in 2019. A few years later they quietly found their way back to one another and began releasing music again, turning what looked like a clean ending into a genuine reunion rather than a nostalgia tour.
