Styx – Cornerstone

Title: Styx – Cornerstone

Year/Genre: 1979, Rock

Matrix #: SP-3711

Condition: VG

Description:
Released in 1979, Cornerstone captured Styx at the height of arena rock’s commercial success while also signaling internal tensions within the band. Dennis DeYoung’s push toward ballad-driven songwriting clashed with the harder-edged preferences of other members, foreshadowing future fractures. The record reflects the late ’70s landscape when rock bands navigated the pressures of balancing FM-radio appeal with artistic identity, a challenge amplified by the rise of new wave and shifting listener tastes. Cornerstone stands as both a commercial triumph and a turning point in Styx’s trajectory.
