Negative Reinforcement – Negative Reinforcement
Title: Negative Reinforcement - Negative Reinforcement
Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 2011, Hardcore Punk, Noise Hardcore and Metallic Hardcore, Perth, Australia 8/26
Matrix #: Coffin Cut Records #5
Condition: VG (LM) | Members: Negative Reinforcement (N/A)
Cultural Facts:
- Scene Lore: Negative Reinforcement came out of Perth’s small but intensely active underground hardcore scene, with members describing the city’s isolation as something that pushed local musicians to create heavier and stranger music.
- Band Philosophy: The group openly rejected the polished, formula-driven side of modern hardcore, citing influences ranging from Black Flag, Discharge, Cro-Mags, and Negative FX to Iggy Pop and Slayer while insisting they wanted to innovate rather than simply imitate older bands.
- DIY History: Before this Coffin Cut release, the band had already made two demos and an extremely limited 5-inch record, most of which they jokingly claimed had either been sold or destroyed.
