Title: Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade
Year/Genre: 1992, Death Metal, Death-Doom, 10/26
Condition: New (LM) | Members: Bolt Thrower (N/A) | Producer: Colin Richardson, Bolt Thrower
Cultural Facts:

  1. The Title Had Two Meanings: It was Bolt Thrower's fourth studio album, and the title also points to the Fourth Crusade and the 1204 capture of Constantinople. The cover is Eugène Delacroix's 1840 painting The Entry of the Crusaders in Constantinople.
  2. The Band Started in a Pub Toilet: Gavin Ward and Barry Thomson came up with Bolt Thrower in a Coventry pub toilet during a hardcore punk show in 1986. Their early heroes were Discharge, Crass and Slayer.
  3. Their Driver Became Their Singer: John Peel heard their second demo and invited them to record a BBC session in January 1988, which led to their first record deal. Before cutting their debut LP they replaced their singer with their driver, Karl Willetts, who is still behind the mic here.
