Blue Öyster Cult – Some Enchanted Evening
Title: Blue Öyster Cult - Some Enchanted Evening
Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 1978, Rock, Hard Rock/Heavy Metal, Long Island, NY
Catalog #: JC 35563
Condition: VG+ | Members: Eric Bloom, Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser, Allen Lanier, Joe Bouchard, Albert Bouchard | Producer: Sandy Pearlman, Murray Krugman & Blue Öyster Cult
Cultural Facts:
- Recorded Across the Road: Rather than coming from one concert, Some Enchanted Evening was assembled from 1978 performances in places including Atlanta, Little Rock, Columbus, and Newcastle, England, capturing the band at full touring strength.
- The Essential Live “Reaper”: The album includes live versions of “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” and “Godzilla,” alongside heavier covers like the MC5’s “Kick Out the Jams.” It became Blue Öyster Cult’s second live album and was eventually certified for sales of one million copies in the U.S.
- Peak Cult Imagery: The famous cover—with a cloaked skeleton riding a black horse—fits perfectly with the band’s fascination with occult imagery, science fiction, and dark fantasy, a visual identity that helped make Blue Öyster Cult stand apart from other ’70s hard-rock bands.
