Title: Supertramp - Crisis? What Crisis?
Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 1975, Progressive Rock, Art Rock and Pop Rock, London, England 8/26
Matrix #: SP-4560
Condition: VG+, sounds great, some light marks (CC) | Members: Supertramp (N/A) | Producer: Ken Scott, Supertramp
Cultural Facts:

  1. Recording Story: Much of Crisis? What Crisis? was assembled while Supertramp was still touring heavily behind Crime of the Century, and several songs had originated during the earlier album’s sessions before being revisited and completed.
  2. Career Struggle: Before their breakthrough, Supertramp survived partly through financial backing from Dutch millionaire Stanley August Miesegaes. When that support ended, the band was under serious pressure to succeed, making the eventual success of Crime of the Century crucial to keeping them alive.
  3. Album Art: The cover shows a man relaxing beneath a beach umbrella in the middle of a bleak industrial landscape, a visual joke that mirrors the album title by contrasting personal comfort with an obviously troubled world.
