Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 1959, Western, Cowboy, Willcox, Arizona 10/26
Matrix #: N/A
Condition: VG+ (LM) | Members: Rex A (20' - 99')
Cultural Facts:

1. Actually a Cowboy: Allen grew up on a remote Arizona ranch, learning to ride, rope and shoot before eventually touring the Southwest as a rodeo rider. Unlike many Hollywood cowboys, the lifestyle portrayed on Mister Cowboy was rooted in things he had actually done.
2. One of the Last Singing Cowboys: Republic Pictures made Allen a Western-film star in the 1950s alongside his horse Koko and sidekicks including Slim Pickens. He arrived near the end of the singing-cowboy era and starred in what became one of Hollywood's final traditional singing Westerns.
3. The Voice of Disney's West: After movie Westerns faded, Allen's warm baritone found a second career narrating dozens of Walt Disney nature and Western productions. He also became the original voice of the father in Disney's Carousel of Progress, first presented at the 1964 New York World's Fair.
