1. Recorded at the Peak: Captured was assembled from shows on Journey's 1980 tour, when the band was already filling arenas but had not yet released Escape. It preserves the Steve Perry-era lineup just before “Don't Stop Believin'” pushed them into an even bigger level of fame.
2. Neal Schon Was a Teen Prodigy: Guitarist Neal Schon was only 17 when he joined Santana, turning down an invitation to play with Eric Clapton's Derek and the Dominos. A few years later, he and former Santana keyboardist Gregg Rolie became founding members of Journey.
3. Gregg Rolie's Farewell: Captured became one of the final Journey releases featuring founding keyboardist and singer Gregg Rolie. He left after years of nonstop touring and was replaced by Jonathan Cain, whose arrival helped reshape the band for Escape and its massive commercial breakthrough.
