Cultural Facts:

  1. A Hank Williams Song Became Bar-Room Rock: The title track was originally a 1947 Hank Williams country hit. Thorogood cranked it into a slide-guitar boogie, helping turn an old country song into one of the defining tracks of late-'70s blues rock.
  2. Rounder's First Gold Record: Move It On Over became a huge breakthrough for the small independent Rounder label, eventually passing 500,000 copies and earning Rounder its first Gold record. A label rooted in folk, blues and traditional music suddenly had a genuine rock success.
  3. The Album Is All Covers: Thorogood built the entire record from older blues, country and rock songs by artists including Bo Diddley, Elmore James, Willie Dixon, Chuck Berry and Hank Williams. Rather than hiding those influences, the Destroyers made reviving older American music the whole point of the record.
