Cultural Facts:

1. A Record Club Exclusive: Songs For The Young At Heart was a 20-song double-LP assembled for the Capitol Record Club, gathering Sinatra's 1950s Capitol recordings into a collection built around romance, youth and swinging standards.
2. Harry James Let Him Go: Before Sinatra became a star with Tommy Dorsey, trumpeter Harry James gave the unknown young singer his first major-band job in 1939. When Sinatra received the life-changing offer from Dorsey, James graciously released him from his contract instead of standing in his way.
3. He Sang With the Orchestra in the Room: During his classic Capitol years, Sinatra generally preferred recording live alongside the musicians rather than laying his vocal down afterward. He treated the orchestra like another performer, responding to the arrangement in real time and insisting that phrasing and breathing were as important as hitting the notes.
