Title: Cher - Cher's Greatest Hits
Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 1974, Pop, Folk Pop, Pop Rock, Los Angeles, California 10/26
Matrix #: N/A
Condition: NM (LM) | Cover: NM | Members: Cher (46' - )
Cultural Facts:

1. She Started Behind the Stars: Before becoming famous herself, Cher worked as a teenage backup singer on Phil Spector sessions in Los Angeles, appearing on recordings connected to acts like the Ronettes and the Righteous Brothers while learning the studio business from the inside.
2. Sonny & Cher Were Married and Working Partners: Cher's early career was inseparable from Sonny Bono, who wrote, produced and promoted much of their material. Their marriage and television fame made them one of America's most recognizable celebrity couples before the relationship and professional partnership collapsed in the 1970s.
3. She Became a TV Star Too: By the time this compilation appeared, Cher had successfully crossed from records into prime-time television through The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour. Her deadpan delivery, elaborate Bob Mackie outfits and willingness to joke about her own image helped establish the larger-than-life persona she carried for decades.
