Title: Alice Cooper - Love It To Death
Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 1971, Hard Rock, Shock Rock, Detroit, Michigan 6/26
Matrix #: WS 1883
Condition: VG+, sounds great, some marks (CC) | Members: Alice C (48' - Alive), Glen B (47' - 97'), Michael B (48' - Alive), Dennis D (46' - Alive), Neal S (47' - Alive)
Cultural Facts:

  1. Personal Struggle: Before this record, the band’s first two albums had flopped, money was thin, and they were living like unwanted freaks between LA rejection and Detroit survival.
  2. Studio Lore: Bob Ezrin forced the band to tighten “I’m Eighteen” from a loose long jam into a focused single, changing their chaos into something dangerous but controlled.
  3. Album Art: Early covers were censored after Alice’s thumb through his cape was read as a crude phallic gag, giving the sleeve its own dirty little label problem.
