Title: Blancmange - Happy Families
Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 1982, Synth-Pop, New Wave/Electro-Pop, Harrow, London, England 6/26
Matrix #: 90053-1
Condition: VG+ LM | Members: Neil A (58' - ), Stephen L (54' - )
Cultural Facts:

  1. Scene Ecology Blancmange came out of Britain’s early-80s synth-pop boom, but their odd humor and art-school weirdness kept them from feeling like a normal glossy New Romantic act.
  2. Studio Lore Happy Families includes “Living on the Ceiling,” where electronic pop met Indian percussion and melody in a way that stood apart from a lot of colder British synth music.
  3. Health Crisis Stephen Luscombe later stepped back from active Blancmange work because of serious health problems, leaving Neil Arthur to carry the name forward in later years.
