Title: Slightly Stoopid - Meanwhile...Back at the Lab
Year/Genre/Sub-Genre/City: 2015, Reggae Rock, Dub Ska Punk, Ocean Beach, California 10/26
Condition: New (BC) | Members: Slightly Stoopid (N/A) | Producers: Slightly Stoopid, James Wisner
Cultural Facts:
- High-School Trouble: Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald formed Slightly Stoopid while attending Point Loma High School, and their first real performance was a lunchtime set on campus. Their lyrics were wild enough that the teenage band ended up in the vice-principal's office afterward.
- Bradley Nowell Changed Everything: The members were still in high school when Sublime's Bradley Nowell took them under his wing and signed them to Skunk Records. He helped connect them with Miguel Happoldt and appeared on their first album, giving a group of San Diego teenagers an extraordinary mentor before Sublime had even reached its full posthumous fame.
- Song Took 20 Years: “The Prophet” was written by Miles at about 16 years old and originally developed while jamming with Bradley Nowell in Miles' living room. Two decades later Slightly Stoopid finally revisited it for this album, even using old home-video footage of Miles and Bradley together in the song's video.
