Matrix #: W 1328
Condition: EX (LM) | Members: Various Artists (N/A)
Cultural Facts:
- Scene Ecology: Cool jazz records like this came from a post-bop culture of small clubs, college listeners, hi-fi buyers, and late-night radio rather than the louder pop marketplace.
- Studio Lore: Twelve New Ways To Fly works like a label-era sampler, using “cool” as both a musical idea and a lifestyle pitch for sophisticated 60s record buyers.
- Player Spotlight: The title points to jazz’s mid-century shift toward mood, space, and arrangement, where the personality of the players mattered as much as the melody itself.
