Title: Where The Buffalo Roam (The Original Movie Soundtrack)
Year/Genre: 1980, Soundtrack
Condition: VG++ very clean
Description:
This soundtrack was released to accompany the semi-biographical film loosely based on Hunter S. Thompson’s life, starring Bill Murray as Thompson. Neil Young composed, arranged, and performed much of the score (e.g. “Buffalo Stomp” and variations on “Home on the Range”) with orchestral backing, blending his signature tension between rock and pastoral moods. Interwoven are short snippets of dialogue from the film and licensed tracks from Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, CCR, The Temptations and others — making this a curious collage of genres and eras. The album has never seen an official CD issue. As a collector, it’s a bridge between Young’s film work and the lost licensing era of soundtracks.
