-
Started as a Disguise: The project reportedly began as a joke after the musicians were booked at the same local venue twice in one week. Worried nobody would return to see the same band again, they built giant papier-mâché masks, invented new identities as Khn and Klek de Poitrine and played the second show anonymously. The joke eventually became the band.
-
Construction Workers: When COVID shut down live music, the musicians spent part of the pandemic working construction jobs rather than living as full-time artists. The bizarre masked project later resurfaced and unexpectedly grew into the thing bringing them international attention.
-
Guitar-Hero Parody: Khn plays a custom double-neck guitar/bass fretted for quarter tones, building layers live with a looper operated partly with his feet. He has explained that the deliberately excessive double-neck instrument also fits the band's original idea of making fun of over-the-top rock guitar heroes while simultaneously becoming incredibly difficult to play.
